 Let's Travel | Brussels: When you enter the Grand Place on one of the seven streets converge here, the eyes of tourists are attracted invariably Belgian capital of Brussels Hall Gothic tower that seemed to aim for the sky. Since it was built until today, "Hotel de Ville" or "Stadhuis" is considered one of the most beautiful halls in the Netherlands.

Bruges: Once a 13th-century cloth making center, Bruges (Brugge) may have become a major tourist destination, but its wealth of wandering canals and ornate houses, plus the city's medieval charm, remains. The historic center's pedestrian-only streets bristle with Gothic spires and flourishes. Friendly residents of the West Flanders capital impress visitors with their enthusiasm to show their city's sights, such as the superb Groeninge Museum, Church of Our Lady and the Belfry and Market Halls.

Ghent: Ghent is a city and a municipality located in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is the capital and biggest city of the East Flanders province. The city started as a settlement at the confluence of the rivers "Schelde" and "Leie" and in the Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe. Today it is a busy city with a port and a university.

Belfry: Belfries are medieval alarm bell towers, often in town centers. In the 13th century they were wooden constructions. From the 14th till the 17th century they were built in stone. The nowadays remaining examples date from that period in history.

In 1999 the Unesco inscribed 32 Belgian towers onto the World Heritage List. In 2005 the belfry of Gembloux, as well as 23 belfries in the northern French regions of Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Picardi were added to the final list "Belfries of Belgium and France". From our list only the City Hall Belfry in Brussels is not on the list, as it already is part of the Grand Place World Heritage Site (Brussels City Square).

NAMUR: Namur is situated in Wallonia, the French part of Belgium, on the train line between Brussels and Luxembourg.
Generally a busy and appealing city it has two particular features of real interest. The first is the Citadelle, uphill from the river. [Please edit as it was almost lost in cloud when the editor was there.]
The second is a museum piece, the treasure of Hugo d'Oignies. This consists of carvings made by a goldsmith for a priory in the 12/13th centuries, of a standard so exceptional that it should be regarded as one of Europes greatest art treasures.
